Process          * Consultation * Design * Production * Rehearsal * Delivery * Implementation

We design programmes in our three core areas of brand, customer experience and business culture to meet your specific business needs.

Each custom programme comprises interactive workshops and in-house implementation sessions.

The process involves consultation and design, programme production, rehearsal, workshop delivery and on-site implementation.

Using forum theatre, the workshop itself brings to life realistic workplace scenarios drawn from research during the consultation process.

Participants interact with the scenarios generating discussion, changing and controlling scenes as directors, thereby experimenting with alternative resolutions until an ideal outcome is achieved, which can then be translated into tangible workplace solutions.

The workshops are engaging, motivating and upbeat.  Whilst remaining entertaining and dynamic, they impact on attitudes and behaviours for enduring and measurable results.

Forum Theatre

Forum theatre was created by Augusto Boal in Brazil in the 1970s.  It was originally designed as a method of 'flushing out' social conflicts in deprived areas of San Paolo, but it has been adapted to suit many other contexts where people are seeking to alter, resolve or improve behaviour or human relations.

The method centres on people actively observing actors performing versions of their own lives and then becoming involved in their reconstruction, with inputs and suggested altered outcomes.  Debate ensues and an arena for practical, interactive solutions is provided.

The observers eventually become the actors and the actors become spectators, either in practical terms or in their imaginations, thereby handing back the power of the situations to their original owners.

It is crucially a collective experience where all the participants strive to see alternative angles to a problem or other options to resolving a conflict that has become locked in stalemate.

Jikijela is the trail blazer in Ireland that has combined the essence of this progressive and innovative method with specific responses to the needs of the business community.  It is the only company of its kind in Ireland and has enjoyed the patronage of a host of Ireland's leading businesses since its inception in 2005.

Speaking about Forum Theatre, Adrian Jackson, who translated Augusto Boal's work, captured the essence of the process perfectly:

"..is about acting rather than talking, questioning rather than giving answers, analysing rather than accepting...for all those interested in theatre as a force for change."
